Teen Summer Reading Program Preview

Summer is almost upon us!  At the library, we have been working hard to get ready for our summer reading program.  This year’s theme is, “Scare Up a Good Book.”  The program begins Monday, June 7 and ends Saturday, August 14.

The Teen Summer Reading Program is for teens entering 6th through 12th grade.   Register online or at the library for the program beginning Monday, June 7.  If registering from home, all you need is internet access and your Fountaindale Public Library card.

Teen reading is based on how many HOURS you read. You will be able to start entering your hours on Monday, June 14.  You will only be able to log five hours a day.  Complete 15 hours of reading and earn a free paperback book. Earn a second book by reading an extra 15 hours.  We will have monthly prize drawings for $25 gift certificates to Borders, Best Buy, and Target.  Every teen that reads 15 hours will be entered to win an iPod nano, courtesy of the Friends of the Library.

Want a chance to win MORE prizes?  Review a book or graphic novel and be entered into our weekly drawings for a $10 gift card to Borders.

Don’t forget about all of the great, spine-tingling activities that will keep you busy all summer long.  Registration for all teen and tween activities begins Friday, May 21.

See you soon!

My sister and I signed up today, and we’re really excited! We registered online. The problem is, I can’t figure out how to record my hours!!!! Can somebody help? The FAQ section had an answers, but I’m not seeing the button that they listed. Help please??? Anybody?

    • Hello there! Glad you are excited to be a part of the reading program. You can’t actually start logging until Monday, June 14th. That doesn’t mean you can’t start reading though! On Monday, June 14, you will be able to log into the program and you will see a button that says Add/View Log. This is where you can enter your hours and review books. Remember that you will only be able to log once a day. Hope this helps!
