What are the special features???
Well, the Teen Computer Lab, access to open game play of the videogame systems, group study rooms, access to boardgames and the freedom to just plain ol’ hang out in the Vortex. Do keep in mind that at any time a person can come into the area and get a book – no Vortex Card needed for that, but you never know when you might want to use a service so it’s time to get one now!
A few reminders…
The card is free.
This room and membership is intended for 6th-12th graders only. If you are a 5th grader going to 6th in the fall, you are eligible for the card in June when the school year is over.
Your Vortex Card DOES NOT replace your library card. You still need your library card to check-out items. Also, if you want to use the computer lab, your Vortex card will only get you 1 hour. Your library card gets you 3!
So, a little more about the orientations. You just drop-in at your convenience. If a time slot is listed as 6-8pm, that does not mean it’s for 2 hours. Sessions start every 1/2 hour so this would mean come at 6, 6:30, 7 or 7:30. The sessions are generally taking about 20 minutes. It’s a brief tour, a talk about behavior expectations, a short application to fill out and time to get your picture taken. AN ADULT OR CAREGIVER MUST ATTEND WITH THE CHILD!
So please plan to join us for a Vortex Orientation session at your earliest convenience.
Monday, April 11 from 6-8pm
Wednesday, April 20 from 6-8pm
Monday, April 25 from 6-8pm
Saturday, April 30 from 2-5pm
Wednesday, May 4 from 6-8pm
Monday, May 9 from 6-8pm
Wednesday, May 11 from 6-8pm
Saturday, May 14 from 2-5pm
Wednesday, May 18 from 6-8pm
Monday, May 23 from 6-8pm
And if one of these times don’t work for you, just give us a call and we’ll be happy to set-up one-on-one orientations.
If you have any questions, you can call the Vortex at 630.685.4199 or you can call Randi Careno, Senior Teen Librarian, at 630.685.4175.
Thanks and we hope to see you soon!
