Summer Reading has come to an end at the library. 499 teens registered for the program and read 676,767 pages during our 9 week program. What an accomplishment! Teens were reading to earn paperback books and Pelican Harbor one-day passes. We gave away over 450 books this summer. Prize books can still be picked up through Saturday, August 17 in the Vortex.
The Friends of the Fountaindale Library donated our four grand prize packs featuring gift cards, games, headphones, candy, notebooks, bookmarks, etc. Teens were entered into the grand prize drawing for every 1000 pages read. Here are our 4 winners:
Have Book, Will Read Prize Pack – Casey C.
Have Movies, Will Watch Prize Pack – Kailee S.
Have Music, Will Listen Prize Pack – Paola S.
Have Games, Will Play Prize Pack – Angel O.
We also had a lot of fun in our teen programs this summer. Over 1350 teens attended activities at the library in June, July, and August.
Teens learned how to create, script, shoot and edit videos and animation with our Studio 300 staff. They also learned about 3D design and printing and created 3D models of houses and buildings.
We had tons of great craft programs including: Para-cord Survival Bracelets, Camp Treats, No-Sew Bandana Bags, Buttons, Journal Making and much more. Teens had fun at our movie marathons, green screen photo opportunities, babysitting classes, cooking programs, and video game events. Teens also competed in our 2nd annual No-Bake Iron Chef program. And to close out summer reading, the library held an awesome ice cream social.
Thanks to all our sponsors and teens for making this a great summer!
