Teen Services and Studio 300 held our first teen tech camp of the summer this month from June 8 – June 11. Teens learned about sound effects and music and then applied what they learned to create their final projects.
We started the week as Foley artists. Foley artists recreate sound effects for film, television and radio in a production studio. Our students were asked to use various musical instruments and random objects like a plastic bag filled with binder clips to record a “happy” sound, “sad” sound, etc.
For the final project, the teens rebuilt the soundtrack to a game trailer starting with a silent video. They came up with all the sounds, music, and voices – recording many themselves – and then finished the sound work in GarageBand. They worked on these videos for about 2 1/2 hours and the results were fantastic!
