Anime Recommendation: How to Keep a Mummy

how to keep a mummyAge Recommendation: 11+

Genre: Comedy

# of Episodes: 8 (so far, it’s still currently airing)

“Kashiwagi Sora is living a normal high school student life, when his “adventurer” father sends him a mummy from his travels in Egypt! Sora balks at the letter from his crazy dad (“I found a cool mummy, so I decided to leave it with you, son!”) at first, but the mummy that emerges from inside the huge coffin is a mere 12 centimeters tall–small enough to fit in the palm of his hand. Not only that, it’s shy, a crybaby and most of all, heckin’ cute. And so, Sora and ends up keeping the mummy, naming his new little buddy “Mii-kun.” But living with a mummy might be easier said than done!” -Crunchyroll

We watched this for Anime Night in March and oh my glob. This is the cutest anime I’ve seen in a LONG time. I was skeptical about showing it, I knew it’d be age appropriate, but not sure if it’d be overly cutesy (like Bananya, I love Bananya, but it can be an acquired taste for some, definitely). My worries were completely unfounded.

If you’re in a bad mood from a bad day full of awful badness, this will make it so much better. It’s a little ray of sunshine on a cold, uncaring world.

It’s heartwarming, funny and absolutely endearing. It will definitely make you want to own a little Mii-kun of your own! I know I dooo. Watch it for free on today! You seriously won’t be disappointed. What are you still doing here? GO WATCH.

I’m not normally one for realistic romantic fiction (I like my romance mixed with magic and dragons), but I’m glad I took the recommendations of several friends to give this a try. It is cute. Cute. Cute. Cute!! And also hilarious. I sped through this book within barely a day or so because I was absolutely hooked and had to keep reading. The characters are likeable, fun and relatable! You totally root for Dimple and Rishi to get together and just thinking about it makes me want to happy wiggle and squee with joy. Dimple’s ferocity and intelligence mixed with Rishi’s heart on his sleeve makes them such a lovable couple. ❤

Seriously go pick it up and read it today if you haven’t! If you have read it already, go read it again! It’s really so adorable that it’s kinda almost overwhelming! Go now!

Collect Kitties on Your Phone with Neko Atsume

Neko Atsume is a free kitty collecting app for your iOS or Android device (whether it be a phone or a tablet).

It’s a relaxing app that you can check periodically through the day that requires minimal interaction from you!

You just set down food and items for the cats to interact with then close out the app and return to it later in the day! Hopefully some kitties will have visited you!

Items cost either Sardines or Goldfish but all kitties will give you some kind of fish so there’s no need to spend real money on extra goldfish for those more expensive items. Before you know it, you’ll have more fish of both kinds than you know what to do with!

I recommend not spending a single goldfish until you have enough to get the yard expansion (pictured below).

My yard has the yard expansion (180 goldfish) and the Zen Style Remodel (140 goldfish)

Who is this program for?

This program is aimed at teens in grades 6-12, but adults are also welcome to register!

What is Lolita fashion?

As I am a very wordy and overly complicated person, I’m going to let wikipedia do the explaining for me! Simply put, “Lolita fashion is a fashion subculture originating in Japan that is based on Victorian and Edwardian clothing, but the style has expanded greatly beyond Japan.”

Do I have to dress up for this program?

Nope! Dressing up is encouraged but not required! Come dressed as fancy as you dare.
