Tuesday, March 10

Raspberry Pi, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in Studio 300
Learn basic computer programming with Raspberry Pi.

Teen Gaming Club, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in the Vortex
Play video games rated T and below with friends.

Wednesday, March 11

Light Painting, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in Studio 300
Use different types of LED lights and camera equipment to “paint” a photo that resembles a hand-drawn sketch.

Thursday, March 12

Lego® Storytelling, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in Studio 300
Create your own comic using Lego® blocks, camera equipment, and the computer program Comic Life.

Friday, March 13

Teen Geek Out, 3:00 – 5:30 p.m. in Studio 300
Teens are taking over Studio 300. Drop-in to try out the computers, video and sound recording equipment, and more. It will be a teens only environment from 3:00 – 5:30 pm! No registration is required.

Saturday, March 14

Retro Techno Fair, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. in Meeting Room A
Experience technology from days past and see how far we’ve come. The fair looks back at old(er) technology — phones, computers, video games, slides, LPs, and so much more. Join us for this all ages trip down memory lane.

International Games Day @ the Library!

What is International Games Day?  It’s a world-wide library event celebrating the popularity and educational, recreational, and social value of video and board games.  Our library has been participating in this event since 2010.

On Saturday, November 15th, the game is on at Fountaindale Public Library as we host tournaments and activities for tweens and teens in grades 4 – 12.   There will be popcorn, trivia, prizes and fun in the Vortex from 11 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Here is a schedule of events:

Just Dance Dance Off 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Gr. 4 – 8
Yu-Gi-Oh  12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. Gr. 6 – 12

National Game Day Celebration on 11/11 & 11/12

Come Celebrate National Game Day at the library on Friday, 11/11 and Saturday 11/12!

On Friday 11/11/11 (what a cool date!), families can join us for our National Game Day lock-in from 7:30 – 10 pm.  We’ll have tons of games and other activities for the whole family to enjoy.  Play video and board games, bingo, pictionary, freeze dance, and so much more.  Families will be entered to win a game prize pack.  This program is for all ages 5 and up.  Children 5th grade and under must be accompanied by at least 1 adult.  No adults without children.  To register, please contact the library at 630-685-4176 or 630-685-4181.

On Saturday 11/12/11, teens gr. 6 – 12 can register for a whole day of gaming fun!  Teens can have fun, make new friends, and win prizes for participating in our game tournaments.  Here is the schedule of events:

10 am –  1 pm….Yu-Gi-Oh Tournament
1 pm  – 2 pm……Connect 4 Tournament
2 pm – 3 pm……Sorry Tournament
3 pm – 5:30 pm……Teen Video Game Tournament includes Super Smash Bros, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, WWE SmackDown vs. RAW
